Later in the day after a moment of hesitation to an invitation, I met up with Amie at the park in town. She was pleased to see me ‘Devin’ she shouted Amie was wearing a blue dress which flowed nicely in the light breeze, in her arm a basket, blanket, and XE the little bot floated behind its eye looking at different flowers and the odd bird on the ground ‘brought a little picnic sadly XE had to come he doesn’t leave my side unless it’s school’ we both laid the blanket down placing the basket to one side, XE floated above us like a buzzing bee.

Amie opened the basket showing a flask of juice inside two cups plus a small arrangement of nuts and fruits in a bowl ‘I didn’t know what you like I brought an arrangement’

‘Looks delicious how are you XE’ I said, he swooped in front of my face his eye blinked.

‘XE is running in normal limits, cataloging subject three hundred and two’ a little beam appeared running over me ‘already scanned nothing new of interest’ with that the beam shut off and he whipped away looking for another subject.

‘That was interesting’ as I heard him repeat the same line in the distance.

‘XE has been like that ever since I turned him on, scan this, scan that cataloging anything, one of the interesting things is, you can ask…
